Realizing God-Given Potential

As an Episcopal School, Porter-Gaud places emphasis on the development of character and spiritual growth. We have chaplains in each division who are masterful at guiding our community members through their spiritual journeys. They each lead weekly chapel services and also teach classes to every student within the Religion and Philosophy Department.

Our chaplains are not only dedicated to the students of PG, but everyone in our community, from parents and teachers to facilities staff and board members.

Highlight of the week from Father Palmer Kennedy

Typically, in this space, one of the chaplains will highlight something that they are really excited about - an article, a book, a podcast, a beautiful moment on our campus, etc. This week, for me, it’s the start of the new school year. I will certainly miss the pace of summer, but I am thrilled to have everyone back on campus. It is an honor and joy to serve this wonderful community! I’m also excited about this new chaplains’ page. Please have a look around. It is our prayer that is a resource and blessing to you all!

Prayer & Pastoral Care Form

Prayer and pastoral care are central to the role of Porter-Gaud's chaplains. We would be honored to pray for any needs you may have or circumstances you may be facing. We are also happy to meet with you to offer support, spiritual guidance, and/or to simply listen. If you would like to submit a prayer request or set up a meeting with one of our chaplains, please fill out the form below.

Questions for the Chaplains

The chaplain team regularly receives all sorts of questions from the students, families, and faculty of our PG community. These questions are sometimes theological, sometimes pastoral, sometimes serious, sometimes comical, and always more than welcome! If you would like to submit a question for our chaplains, please fill out the form above.

A Prayer for Schools as We Begin the New Year

“Almighty God, by your gift alone we come to wisdom and true understanding: Look with favor, we pray, on our universities, colleges, and schools, especially the Porter-Gaud community, that knowledge may be increased among us, and wholesome learning flourish and abound. Bless those who teach and those who learn; and grant that in humility of heart they may ever look to you, the fountain of all wisdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
