Upcoming Service Opportunities

Dear Porter-Gaud Families,

We have two upcoming service opportunities to share with you:

On-Campus Blood Drive
We will host an on-campus blood drive on Friday, December 6 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Upper School carpool loop. Please consider donating if you are able. As a reminder, our blood drives are open to the public, so please feel free to help us spread the word to any neighbors, family members, and friends who may want to participate. Annual Toy Drive
We are pleased to announce the 39^th annual Porter-Gaud Christmas Toy Drive to collect toys for children in need in the Charleston area the week of December 9-13. All students are encouraged to bring a gift or toy to school and deposit it in boxes located in each homeroom. We ask that all items be new, as this may be the only gift some of the children receive this holiday season. All gifts should be unwrapped to make sorting and placement easier. Our gift request lists this year include ages from infant to 14 years.

Gift suggestions:

Toiletries, batteries, gift cards, gloves and hats, new coats, socks, and blankets.

Toy suggestions:

Legos, educational toys, board games, dolls (ethnic dolls needed), sports balls, handheld electronic games, craft sets, infant toys, makeup sets and costume jewelry, stuffed animals, Play-Doh sets, puzzles, toy vehicles, baby toys, and new books.

We have had a special request from several organizations for highly educational toys and gift cards for teenagers in the foster care system. This year we will share your gifts with eight local organizations: Dorchester Children’s Advocacy Center, Citadel Holiday Drive, Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, HALOS, Pink House, Carolina Youth Development Center, and Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.
